A turkey and a major award

Janie won 1st place with her photo and 2nd place for visual arts for her grade in the Reflections program at her school!  She’s always been a little artist so this program is right up her alley.

These medals are no leg lamp but I’m not sure she would like a leg lamp anyway.

The kindergartners had a Thanksgiving program last night.  Nolan was a turkey.  He said that he and Emma were so embarrassed because they had to sit in front.  He also lifted his shirt and scratched his belly during his “part”.  Too funny!

I love our school and I’m so thankful for all of the programs that they offer but I’m looking forward to a night at home.  It’s too cold out there for all this running around!

Nolan funnies

I don’t know if these will come through in reading them but people always ask if I write the stuff he says down….now it’s recorded 🙂

I had a loaner car from the dealership last week and Nolan always wanted to put it in park or reverse.  I told him that he needed to be careful with that because when I was 3, I put a car in neutral and it rolled down my grandparents driveway.  He looked at me with a serious face and said, “Did you die?”

We were talking about Baxter’s birthday and Janie thought that was the date we got him.  I explained that dogs need to stay with their mom for about six weeks so they can drink her milk.  Nolan chimed in, “Baxter has a mom?”  I said, “Yes, he does.”  He responded, “Is it you?”  No son, I did not birth or nurse a dog!

Extracurricular Activities

We had a weekend full of extracurricular activities.  Tim had a track day at Road Atlanta.  The weather was wonderful and the kids enjoyed spending the day there on Sunday.  That’s Tim in between the kids.

Nolan had his last baseball game and team party.  He really looks like Chicken Little with that helmet, especially while running the bases.

Janie earned her white belt in Choi Kwang Do.  She was very intimidated at first but I can tell that she’s getting more confident.

My extracurricular activity……hmm.  I went to Zumba last night….no pictures!  I’m also still on a sad story kick.  That’s the bad thing about Goodreads, you like one sad story and they recommend more.

Happy Ending

I just finished a book that ruined me!  Okay, ruined might be a little dramatic but I can’t get it off my mind and it doesn’t help that there is a similar story in the headlines right now so it’s everywhere.  I picked up this book after it was recommended when I finished The Fault in Our Stars.  Reading these two books back to back was not a great idea!  I love a happy ending.  Any recommendations?

*I’m happy to share the name of the book.  I just didn’t want to give too much away.

Halloween 2014

I thought this was the year that my themed costumes were over.  Nolan was set on Spider-man and I got the costume on clearance for $5 last year so I couldn’t argue with that but Janie just wasn’t feeling the superhero theme.  However, on a random trip to Walmart (and I rarely go to Walmart) I found a Spider Queen costume.  She was sold and we had our spider theme.

I have a theme for next year but I know it’s going to take come convincing.  Good thing I have a year to work on them!
